AFI CONSERVATORY - CINEMATOGRAPHY INTENSIVE FOR WOMEN (Los Angeles)

The AFI Cinematography Intensive for Women (CIW) is a tuition-free, four-day workshop designed for aspiring cinematographers committed to their journey toward a professional career as cinematographers, who have some on-set experience working in the field and are looking for additional training to help them advance in their education, craft and career.

BECINE - WORKSHOP SERIES (Los Angeles)

Becine is a woman owned and operated boutique camera rental house specializing primarily in optics. They are passionate about filmmaking and the nuanced design that goes into visual storytelling through a lens. Their goal is to provide competitive prices while maintaining high quality gear and offering excellent customer service and childcare upon request. Becine was founded by cinematographer Bianca Halpern who has over ten years of experience working in the film/tv industry. Throughout the year, Becine offers workshops, training sessions and internships.

Sarah Jones Opportunity (Georgia)

SARAH JONES OPPORTUNITY is a 12-14 week paid internship in Atlanta, consisting of 8 hour days in a 5 day work week. The intern will experience a training regimen that, upon successful completion, can lead to a Local 600 camera department membership.

Steadicam Lessons (Los Angeles)

Instructing Steadicam operators of all levels, either on your own rig or a state-of-the-art GPI Pro Stabilizer System and Transvideo Monitor.

TrueStar Media (Chicago)

TRUE STAR MEDIA provides quality after school and summer on-the-job training to 250 youths a year ages 14-24 living primarily in underserved communities on the south and west sides of Chicago. Instructors are industry professionals.

NBCU ACADEMY is a free, award-winning education program for developing new skills and advancing careers in journalism, media and tech.

STREETLIGHTS (Los Angeles)

The STREETLIGHTS Job Training Program is the only production training of its kind requiring graduates to complete 4½-weeks of job training, followed by time spent working on actual productions. Taught by industry professionals, the aspiring production assistants (PAs) learn the varied skills necessary to be of true assistance to the production companies from their very first day on the job. Mentoring, job counseling and financial assistance for those in need are also a vital and on-going part of the services provided to the enrollees.

NBC Universal Careers

The NBCUniversal Page Program is a rotational learning and development program that gives early career talent a well-rounded experience along with unmatched exposure to the media industry. The program is designed to help prepare Page Program graduates for other early-career, entry level roles at the company.  Employment at NBCUniversal after program completion is a primary goal but not guaranteed. 

The program is based out of New York, NY and Universal City, CA and considered an in-person learning and development experience. Pages have the opportunity to contribute to various teams in meaningful ways and gain unparalleled exposure to NBCU and the media industry. Pages get a wide look across the businesses and functions of NBCU as they complete 3 full-time assignments within their year and serve as Ambassadors of the Page Program and company throughout the year.

GRIERSON DOCLAB (UK)

GRIERSON DOCLAB is the training branch of The Grierson Trust. The core Grierson DocLab programme has run since 2012 and helps new entrants thrive in the world of factual TV and documentary filmmaking. From 2021, The Grierson Trust also offers two further specialist training initiatives in the form of Grierson DocLab In Focus: Unscripted Editing and Grierson DocLab In Focus: Production Management, in partnership with Netflix. A recently-announced collaboration with Prime Video Pathway on Grierson DocLab In Focus: Archive Producers is the latest addition to the training offer.

New York Women in Film and Television

The New York Women in Film & Television Intern/Mentor Program provides a rare opportunity for people with film/communications degrees and those with entry-level knowledge of the film industry to interact with professionals in the industry and to gain experience under the guidance of NYWIFT members who agree to serve as their mentors.
